Southern Districts vs St Albans Diamonds
We arrived at Opawa School to find very long grass which was a bit disappointing..
After SD winning the toss, they elected to bat first, with Stella leading the bowling attack we got off to a great start by restricting runs early.
With a couple of run outs in the first 2 partnerships the Diamonds were starting get some line and length. Coming up to bowlers second over the was a flurry of runouts with 3 by Chloe G and a couple of great wickets by Stella C, Isabella H and Amelia B. The Diamonds were doing well restricting SD's batting which left us in a good position going in to bat.
After a drink and a snack Violet and Isabella were the first partnership to face SD's bowling attack. SD's bowling attack nabbed a early runout and a couple of nice bowls claim a couple of wickets early.
Moving down the order Elle was first to strike the ball for the first boundary of the match. Katie and Elle batted well getting some respectable batting figures, next up was Chloe and Maddison, Chloe taking charge with a couple of boundarys to get things moving. After them were Amelia and Sasha the girls ran hard to turn some singles into two's with a couple of boundarys from Amelia giving her the high score of the day of (24).With having 9players today Stella batted her overs with Amelia running for her after turning one's into two's Stella hit a nice boundary off the tee and bringing the 2nd Innings to a close.
