RFL Ohoka Masters Vs St Albans, Mandeville Number 3, ( sorry our number 1 was out)
St Albans won the toss and decided to bat first, on a good looking pitch with nice big boundaries,
Solid start by STA before Waller broke through with the key wicket of Gibb for 12,
RFL lost key bowler Stephen de Villiers to a broken toe nail after 1.1 overs,
Hampo and Hill started to build a nice partnership before RFL star Reekers bowled Hampo for a nice 33, after 20 over STA were 77 for 2, Hill and Cox keep the runs coming and building a nice inning’s while RFL keep dropping catches, but a key bowling change with Pollard coming back into the attack for RFL had cox out for a nice 32, we were then told about the no saliva rule on the ball that we had no idea about, so we went back to our old tool the sand paper, and Pollard pick up two quick wickets, Hill ended not out on 66 batting for 32 overs to hold the STA together, and ended 174/6,
Pollard again bowled well ( hangover) 3/28, Reekers 1/21 of 8, and De Villiers 0-3 of 1.1
RFL dropping 6 catches,
RFL sent Reekers and bad calf De Villiers in to open and they took apart the STA bowlers and after 9 overs were 73/0
STA also had injuries issues with Hill also pulling up with a blister on his big toe after 1.1 overs,
STA then bought there key man on Mason, first ball huge 6 from Reekers. Then next ball out, for a great knock of 40, one leg De Villiers keep hitting to all parts of the field and was finally out for a match winning one legged innings of 59, Mason keep the bowling tight and picked up another 2 wickets to finish with 3/41 from his 8 overs,RFLs Peter Hatton then guided his team home for a 6 wicket win in the 28th over
Thank you Hampo and the STA lads, great bunch of men to play against, and thanks for sticking around for a beer and a BBQ,
