Fozzie Bears (4 and 1) v Halswell Placeme (1 and 4). Halswell 3A, grass wicket.
In predictable fashion Halswell rolled in late and what was supposed to be a 5:30pm twilight start for a Thursday Show Weekend Game didn't start till 6:00pm. Kado wins the toss (3 from 6) and elects to bat. The out field and pitch are presented in immaculate condition. However a sticky pitch with tennis ball bounce coupled with a very tidy and tight bowling effort from Halswell restricted the Bears to a less than stellar 95 for 6. Davey the Postman opening the bat for the first time this year posted a tidy 23 and Fabs coming in late with 17 were the pick of the bats.
In return the Fozzies bowled out of their skins with every dot ball a celebration. Drapes, again hostile, picked up a couple early wickets. Lambchop was denied a wicket in the first over off the worst umpiring decision this season, smashing into the front pad on the crease 2 inches below the knee roll straight in front. That set the tone for some interesting umpiring. With 4 overs to go Haslwell needed 15 with 2 wickets in hand and looked in control. In steps the Postman (man of the match) finding the edge off a good length and Halswell are 83 for 7. Fabs, beating the edge with regularity keeps it tight in the 17th conceding just 2 runs. Halswell 85 for 7, 10 required off 12, 1 wicket to get. After some deliberation in the middle (Kados and Fabs), Switchy is thrown the ball. Switchy does not disappoint, sending down an absolute peach and knocks over middle. The Fozzies celebrate a great win. With the ball Drapes 2-14, Suarez 3-8, Postman 2-18.
