WE headed to Woolston Park this week one win away from joining LP at the top of the table. Our hopes were high upon seeing that two of their top players were not playing. This increased when they mentioned that they had some issues with players this week and had some fill ins. LP headed out to bat first with their ex prem player smashing out her 50 pretty quickly. Our plan from there was to keep the run rate down and make sure we didn't take all the wickets so she couldn't come back in at the end. This didn't quite work out as they failed to tell us that they only had 7 players, so she came rolling back in after the 5th wicket, getting an extra 21 runs and helping LP finish on 137.
We hadn't managed a win against that kind of total this season but with LP down a fielder and short of bowlers we thought there was potential to do it. Excitement levels were high when Emily headed out to open and took 16 off the first 5 balls only to then get caught on the 6th! Luckily for us, Liz was on form, smashing out her first ever 50. The rest of us helped her out here and there, seeing out the few bowlers they had and trying to make bank on the rest. Keesha finished the job for us in the 19th over with her first 3!
Now to try and stay on the top of the table.
