MP Gold 91 lost to St Albans 92/1.
Both teams travelled to Hagley 3, most struggling to find a park thanks to the anti vax lot holding a demonstration nearby. Richie called incorrectly and I asked MP to bat. Stumpy and Campbell took strike to Wells and Flavell. 19 on the board and Stumpy cutting one to Potty at point off Wellsy (1/19), followed quickly by Humey (24/2), Campbell (29/3), Crimpy (33/4) with Flav having 3/21. Richie superbly stumped leg side by Iggs off Potty to have MP struggling at 42/5. A solid partnership between Pickle and Josh P occupied 10 overs while putting on 34 before Pickle managed to find Jimmy at long on to be out for a team high 31. The last 3 wickets put on 15 to see MP post 91. The St's bowlers all hit the right lines to keep MP under pressure. Flav 3/21, Wellsy 3/16 (on his birthday), Norm 2/15 and Potty 2/23.
The reunited opening partnership of Gibb and Hemingway strode out purposely taking note of the darkening sky in pursuit of the 92 needed. Gibby started well but on 10 again dragged on (18/1), this brought Hampo to the crease and together with Ralphie decided the need was for attack to get the required runs before the rain arrived. 17.1 overs was all that was needed to reach the target, Ralphie ending the game with a well placed single to also bring up his 50, Hampo 30*,.
A couple of beers and a few stories between the teams on the sideline before the rain got a little heavy and we headed to the pub. An enjoyable game considering the forecast painted the picture that cricket would be off.
