Saints started day 2 after a 30 minute delay on 12/0 with a lead of 86. Matthias Paltridge and Manpreet Sharma looked to be continuing from where they left off until Sharma fell leaving them 28-1. Runs were hard to come by early on and with the loss of a few wickets the Saints found themselves on 55-4 with a lead of 130. A good knock from Tom Flavell (36 off 73) and others batting around him got the saints to lunch on 116-7 with a lead of 190 and with Hugh Symes and Clem Gibbons at the crease. After lunch Saints were looking to score big and fast and the batters delivered. Symes finished on 23 off 50 and Gibbons continued his fine form with the bat scoring a quick fire 37 off 18 deliveries to put on 52 in 4 overs before declaring on 168/8 leaving Sydenham 243 to win.
Jack Anderson and Matt Aspinall were given the new ball hoping for a similar start to the first innings. This wasn’t to be with Sydenham getting to 20/0 off 8 overs and looking comfortable. A clever move by captain Will Southby saw Clem Gibbens come into the attack and a change of ends for Aspinall followed a few overs later replacing Anderson who had bowled a good 6 over spell. Aspinall eventually got the breakthrough following a good catch from Ryan James with Sydenham on 48. This would be the start of a good period for the Saints with a further 5 wickets, of which 4 came from Aspinall, falling in quick succession leaving Sydenham 59/6 at tea needing 184 to win.
2 more wickets in the first 2 overs after tea, 1 each for Aspinall and Gibbons, was the perfect start and left Sydenham with a mammoth task to rescue the game. Sam Kearns came into the attack replacing Aspinall, who finished with a career best of 6-31 off 13 overs. The Sydenham batsman stuck around for 10 overs in a brave attempt to see their side through to a draw but in the 35th and 37th overs Kearns found the all important 9th and 10th wickets to leave Sydenham 86 all out and giving the Saints a convincing 157 run win.
