Division 4 Buccaneers
One-day v Heathcote Lions at Barnett 1

by Goody

Well..........Barnett Park, We came, We saw, we grimaced! Village green atmosphere which was only missing the grazing sheep! Notwithstanding that, we pulled together, flipped a coin, lost the toss and they put us in to bat which is what Musty would've done anyway. Odd decision by them given they only had 4 at the toss.

Anyway....Grimace Turner, and Mustard Hanson opened for us a noodled a steady start before grimace departed and this brought one of 2 BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB players in Hampo to the wicket. We battled for runs of a whoopsy type wicket (Very green and harder than a redneck at a family reunion). Hampo steady innings allowed others to bat around him and we eventually got through to 150/5 after later hitting from G and Matt Ansley. SOlid target on an awkward wicket. Hampos 65* was a vision of guile, patience and experience. We'll have him back.....

We came out to bowl (as you tend to do) and I kept. Joel claimed his finger was sore and didn't want to keep. I believe he's been putting that finger in deep dark crevice's!

Abe came out of a seasonal retirement to bowl and along with Aman (The Pride of Punjab) bowled superbly to leave Heathcote in tatters by drinks 8 down for 50 odd (4 wickets they picked up each). We had to have drinks break as Mustard INSISTED on having a fag. We did let the foot of the throat, and the were eventually out for 124. Matty hit the stumps but never dislodged the bail, Aman evaded 5 wickets courtesy of a sloppy blind wicketkeeper and Mustard somehow lost his wallet. Eventful

It is with sadness though that the Grimace himslef has decided to step back from cricketing duties. Your contribution with bat and gloves has been significant and we thank you for the time you've given Joely. His contribution OFF the field will never be forgotten. A good win and thanks for the 3 extra BBBBBBBBBBBBBBB players for stepping in.
