MP batting got off to a flyer with 20 off the first 2 overs. From there tight bowling from Stewart and excellence in the field, particularly the ever present foot work of Kirkpatrick halted what was looking like a big run chase. Cameron took what was the only offered catch in the game, running in from mid wicket.
MP ending their innings losing only 3 wicket were restricted to 146, including 4 extras.
Fozzies up to bat, confident with the depth in their batting line up knew they had a good chance. Cameron and Flynn to open, looking solid managed a start but both caught comfortably from some of the best bowling on offer. Kirkpatrick made a brief appearance at the crease, showing a glimpse of his attacking style, but otherwise opting for bag packing duty. The game was on a knife edge, the OPPO knew it, offering some practical advice for the incoming pair.
Enter Mullinger and Brown. Both sent the ball to all areas of the field. The pair put on a 80 plus run partnership while facing some ferocious bowling, while at other times watching some deliveries harmlessly go over the wicket keepers head before bouncing.
Mullinger retired (56 off 25) player of the day and Brown (39 off 29) out , leaving the team requiring 14 off 5 overs.
Vaughan, Stewart and Whiting to finish, Fozzies win by 2 wickets with 9 balls to spare. Player of the day: Paul Mullinger.
A good start to the season
