St's met ES Black on a lovely looking Nursery ground at Hagley. Won the toss and decided to field. Seaton and Riach opened up and both looks solid, taking the score thru to 39 in the 12 over before Flav has Jas playing a little early, hitting a catch to Hampo. Tom Music came and went for 1 (40/2), followed shortly after by Sanders (51/3). Papps and Seaton then put on a 50 run stand before a middle/lower order collapse saw 100/3 end up at 157 all out. Thur all this Murray stood firm and carried his bat for 81*, next best Jas 24 & Rich P 25. We bowled consistently with Eagle 1/32, Flav 2/22, Mantis 2/52, Norm 2/22 and Potty 4/26.
We were happy with 158 as the target but from the start the East boys made it hard by bowling a challenging length on a pitch that was holding just a little. Most got starts but couldn't push on, Mantis 26 and Gibby 24 the only ones to pass 20. 121/7 was our lot with Leyes (0/20), Harkess (2-13), Gray (1/18) and Papps (2/29) all bowling 8 others each and only going for a combined 80.
Murray the obvious choice for player of the match as he was the difference. As always a good day's cricket followed by a good get together at the pavilion afterwards.
Cheers Potty
