It was a weekend of landmarks for the Saints in the opening round of two-day cricket proper, in the two games that went ahead amidst the cancellation-a-rama so far this October.
Premier Debut
Overseas player Alex Wood followed up his respectable beginning last with with the Sabres by chiming in with some very important runs in a low-scoring game on Elmwood 1. He found himself walking out to bat on a hat-trick ball but effortlessly saw it off to compile a measured 32 – the best Premier batting debut since Gaurav Navalkar's 41 two years ago.
Milestone Game
Another Englishman - albeit practically a Kiwi now after 4 years here - Laurie Atkinson brought up his 50th game for the Championship Sabres in style, with 38 with the bat and a personal best of 2-9 with the ball. Captain's privileges allowed him to mop up the tail as the Champs forced a handy first-innings advantage of 54 runs over OBC by the end of the day.
| Team | Player | Milestone | Opposition | Ground | Performance |
| Championship SABRES | Laurie Atkinson | 50th game | v OBC | Hagley Corner 5 | bat 38 · bowl 2-9 (4.5) |
Milestone Wickets
Jack Dry cleaned up the last wicket of the Old Boys first innings and struck with his first ball of his second spell late in the day to set up the second hat-trick opportunity of the day. Perhaps he didn't realise it at the time however, because the delivery was short and wide and slashed away through backward point for four. However, the 2 wickets were enough to bring up 100 for the club in his 53rd game (92 of those wickets coming in 48 games for the Prems) since debuting 3 years ago.
| Player | Milestone | Team | Opposition | Ground | Performance |
| Jack Dry | 100 wickets | Premiership Men | v OBC | Elmwood 1 | bat 9 · bowl 1-15 (5.3) & 1-15 (3) |
Personal Bests
Lachie Harper took 4 catches in an innings in the Premier game at Elmwood 1, a new career best, and 5 in the day.
