Sydenham Hospital 116 lost to St Albans BBBBs 120/4
Hospital made a slow start at Polo 1, with Muzza again proving difficult to score off, finishing with 1 for 10 off seven overs, with half those runs coming from his last over. Wellsy, who hasn’t played on an artificial wicket for several years, also helped keep the start slow by regularly halting play to have the soles of his old sprig-less boots taped back on. Eugene Hawyn (33) accelerated the run rate, but his innings was too brief, and it was left to Bruce Day (23) to help the middle and lower order get Hospital through to 116. Mantis (4 for 23) and Norm (3 for 10) were the chief wicket takers. It was a comfortable chase for Saints, with Rich Mather anchoring the innings, unfortunately dismissed for 48 when the scores were tied. He won Mr Grumpy for his efforts moments later. Mantis was 20 not out at the end.
