We batted first and were never able to score freely on a slow Hagley wicket. Gibby anchored the innings with 58, and four other batsmen got into the 20's, but no-one ever looked comfortable and we fought through to 173/7 off our 40 overs. The Heathcote top-order started solidly in their chase, but also found run scoring difficult, going into drinks at 67/2. Three wickets to Norm and three run outs in the next 10 overs spelled an end to the chase. Heathcote batted their 40 overs but with 136/9 were well short at the end.
