Division 4 Buccaneers
One-day v Halswell Fireballs at Hagley Corner 3

by Goody

Jono's first game this season for the Bucc's, and we lost! I could just leave it here, but there is more to be told.

Another Saturday, another bloody easterly. Hagley 3, against a Sri Lankan Halswell side and an odd wicket. Hard but spongy.

Mustard (armed with his breakfast fag) wandered out and uly lost the toss. They chose to field, and only had 4 at the time...

Mustard and another Alabaster relation (Shaun this time) opened and started ok. It didn't go well after that.

Mustard was the main stay but regular wickets at the other end meant keeping up with a good rate was difficult. Jono advised he loved to cut and nicked a cutable ball! If he could predict the future, could you swing me the winning lotto numbers.

I fluffed about for a while and got to 22 before I picked out the only fielder behind square on the leg side! Very annoying considered Mustard was half a cat and had 4 lives before his mainstay 46 was cut down.

88 wasnt a great total but still an awkward wicket. We didn;t start well with a flurry of runs from the first 3-4 overs. Aman broke his duck by taking a wicket in his second over rather than his first. Paddy Forsythe who has joined the club and played and bowled bloody well and was reward with a "hit the top off stump wicket"

Even I got a bowl, and after 8 seasons Goody has his first wicket for St Albans! First "bat for opposition" player to achieve this feet. Jono has 200 odd, but he's still "skiing on another slope". Man U thumped Spurs this morning so I better be careful what i say...

Loss by 7 wickets, which is the first of the season. Great to Have Craig, Paddy and Shaun join the team (and club). Nice additions and we will come back rstrongeg next week.

Ciao
