The Jags first game of the season in a new division got off to a brilliant start by winning the toss and electing to bat first on the rubber ducky. Big boundaries and long grass meant that the scoring rate was kept down to begin with, but the Grunter and Doug got us off to a good start getting to about 40 odd without loss, but as we neared tea we were stuck on 69 (noice) for 5 after a mini-collapse at the top, with Heathcote bowling to their plan remarkably well. The middle to lower order tried to accelerate the run rate after drinks, and Kruger, Curtly and Zaneo cleared the front dog and twatted a few great shots to get us through to 130 odd for 8, before 10 and 11 came in and from there the innings was all but done. We finished up on 137 all out and gave the opposition 47 overs in which to chase it down. Curtly and Kruger opened the bowling, and for the first 10 overs we managed to keep a lid on things, with Curtly snicking off the opener in the second over for 1 and the run rate kept pretty low. Zaneo and El then managed to nick off a couple more, but the damage had been done with Heathcotes #3 slapping his way to a quickfire 50 and despite a valiant fielding effort and Rimmy getting a wicket with arguably the ball of the century in the final over, we fell 6 wickets short of a result. It was a great showing of support on the side particularly from the Sabers lads and Billy Maverick himself, it was also fantastic to try out the new kit, which looked bloody sharp in the field. Georgie ended up with dick of the day despite not being in the playing 11 and Zaneo for player of the day for smoking a few good ones and bowling toight. - El
