The 2009/10 annual report and accounts were presented at the 106th St Albans Cricket Club AGM at Trevinos Restaurant and Bar in Riccarton last evening.
The many members of the club present firstly observed a moment's silence out of respect for the passing of a number of former club members during the last 12 months before proceedings began. Acting chairman Scott Mason (standing in for Alan Jamieson who is presently overseas) read a brief review of the previous season, covering a number of individual and team achievements during 2009/10.
A motion was passed that subscriptions for 2010/11 increase due to the difficult economic situation the club has found itself in, largely caused by the uncertainty surrounding the status of charitable trusts with respect to sporting clubs and the subsequent drying up of funds coming from them. This is the first such increase in three seasons.
Alan Jamieson was re-elected for his 31th season as president/chairman of the club while John Harris agreed to perform the duties of club patron for a 17th successive season. Lindsay Serra continues his custodianship of the treasurer's role for a 27th season and Scott Mason continues as secretary for a third year.
Thanks were given to outgoing members of the club's management committee, namely Matt Sutherland (five years service), Jonathan Price (two) and outgoing women's club captain Sarah Helmore (one). Hayden Pipe moves from the general management committee to an executive position in replacing Matt Sutherland as bar manager. Jarrod Stewart and Ben Brady have been seconded onto the committee to bring its total membership to 12.
Mike Fisher attended the AGM on behalf of the Canterbury Cricket Association and spoke on a number of topics for a few minutes, acknowledging St Albans for their relationship with the CCA. With no other general business the AGM was wrapped up neatly within half an hour.
