A low scoring affair between St Albans and Heathcote played out on Hagley 2. Hampo won the toss and asked Heathcote to bat. Wellsy and Flav bowled well up front to see the Rats 2 down for not many. 3 more wickets fell to have the score 60/5 after 22. Some good lower order batting see Heathcote all out for 123 in the 40th over. Wellsy outstanding with 2/9 off his compliment, joined by Gibby & Potty also with 2 apiece.
A real struggle for most of the chase with the Rats bowling a great line and length backed up by good field placement, 41/2 at drinks. The innings only got going when Flav joined Mantis at the fall of the 4th wicket. A leg injury to Flav saw Jimmy spend a decent amount of time in the middle, all be it as a runner! 3 more quick wickets and the need for run a ball made for some interesting watching from the sidelines but Mantis was the difference hitting the second to last ball of the innings for 4 to seal the win and remain unbeaten on 63, the only score above 33 on either side.
A great game to start the season.
