St Albans BBBB’s 237/8 beat ES Strikers 192
Saints made the most of a fast Burwood Park outfield to get off to a quick start, but the loss of both openers saw a rapid slowing of the run rate. Barry Cox offered some early chances, but became more confident as his innings progressed, finally getting through to 92. His 120 run partnership with Mantis (43) was the highlight of the innings. Easts pulled it back towards the end, with Mayur, who only joined the attack in the 34th over, taking 4/6 in his first 3 overs. Wellsy struck 18 off Mayur's fourth over, which was also the last over of the innings, damaging two cars in the process.
Easts also got off to a flyer, with Sourav smashing the ball to all parts of the ground. The introduction of Potty slowed the scoring rate, but Easts went to drinks at 116/2 holding the upper hand. A wicket to Mantis first ball after drinks was the beginning of the end though, with Mantis finishing with 4/23 in a top all round performance. Only 30 runs were scored in the first 15 overs after drinks, including the dismissal of Sourav for 78. Some late hitting by the last Easts pair got them through to 192.
